subversion finder plugin (scplugin) on intel - this one works!

Since switching to OS X in…April or so, and getting acquainted with subversion, one of the things that I’ve found to be irritating is the lack of finder support for subversion, at least for intel-based machines. Sure, textmate’s subversion support is INCREDIBLE, but some of the files that I keep source controlled (i.e., all of my client management docs) I had to put into a textmate project and check things in and out that way…not a very fluid workflow.

There is an abandoned project called “SCPlugin” that integrates subversion commands into a context sensitive menu in the apple finder, but unfortunately it hasnt been touched much since long before apple switched to intel. Some people have taken a stab at compiling it as an intel binary, but most of them were crashey and relatively useless.

Finally, i stumbled across this post with a link to a stable plugin, and an explanation of the only real caveat: it doesnt support checkout of authenticated repositories. The workaround for this is simple enough…your initial checkout needs to be done from a command line or some other client that DOES support authentication. Once the support files are in place, the scplugin client seems to authenticate just fine.
