Honey, I Shrunk My Coworkers

7 minute read
by Alex Hillman

Last night I threw a big party to celebrate the Indy Hall community’s 13th birthday. The night was incredible in every way, including a very fun reveal of a creative side project with some special meaning.

I’ve long wanted to create something special to give to community members to celebrate their milestones and contributions to the Indy Hall community. Something special that couldn’t be bought, only earned.

So when I saw a custom lego minifigure that Corey Cohen did for our friends at South Fellini, I had an idea. I sent him a photo of our iconic Indy Hall hoodies and asked “do you think this could work on a lego?”

Over the next month, Corey got to work sourcing lego parts, designing the hoodie so it could be printed on the lego torsos, even designing custom packaging that featured our famous Mike Jackson mural!

On the back, it says “Thanks for making Indy Hall awesome. This custom lego minifigure cannot be purchased, only earned. Thank you for your contributions to our community.”

I only gave out a couple of them at last night’s party, but seeing people light up seeing them for the first time was absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to continue giving them to longtime community members as a token of my gratitude for being a part of what we do.

Here are a few more behind the scenes photos that Corey shared from the process!

Hey, thanks for reading!

Alex Hillman I am always thinking about the intersection of people, relationships, trust and business. I founded Indy Hall in 2006, making us one of oldest fully independent coworking communities in the world. This site is packed with the lessons and examples I’ve learned along the way. You can find me on Twitter, too! 🐦 Say hi.
