Whats My Deal?
My name is Alex, I’m a 24 year old entrepreneur from Philadelphia, PA. I currently run my own independent web consulting firm and recently started exploring how big you can get before you’re big by co-founding an indie-culture-driven agency.
My technical skills are strongest in XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP/MySQL development.
My passions for community and authenticity run deep.
I’ve got a portfolio that’s pretty extensive, and I’ve been lucky to work with some incredible partners, big and small.
My strongest talents are those in picking up new skills crazy-fast, a unquenchable thirst for information and learning new stuff (especially in the tech and social genres), and a knack for problem-solving. I may not be “artistic”, but i express myself through innovative thoughts and provocative concepts. Outside the box? No, no…I took the box apart and made a hat. Stylish, too.
I also really like to write and talk (that’s what a blog is for, right?). I’ve spoken at various events including Blog World Expo, BlogPhiladelphia, BlogOrlando, BarcampAustin II, Barcamp Miami, and SXSW Interactive. Interested in having me speak at your event about social technology? Drop me a line.
When I’m not building websites I’m running one of a handful of social and outreach programs that I’ve created and co-created. Independents Hall is my spin on the Coworking project. At IndyHall we share a creative coworking space with the core values of community, collaboration, openness, and sustainability. It’s the raddest place to work in Philly, and I work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, every day.
Also, I participate in a couple of regular meetup groups like Junto @ P’unk Ave and The Cream Cheese Sessions.
I live on the infamous South Street in Philadelphia, home of cheesesteaks and body piercings. I live there with my musically inclined roomate, Jay. He drinks alot of vitamin water and is crazy on the acoustic guitar.
My primary computer is a 24″ iMac, supplimented by a 15″ Macbook Pro for when I need to get away from my desk. I’ve been a happy mac user since Spring ‘06.
Other interests include music (anything but country, for crying out loud), snowboarding, and really anything involving technology and how we interact with one another using it.
My beer is just about done, so its appropriate that this bio come to a conclusion as well.
Oh, one more thing: my thoughts are those of mine and mine alone. They do not represent those of my partners or anyone else whom I am affiliated with, so please don’t get them in trouble just because I shot my mouth off.
